CM Message

Smt. Anandiben Patel
Hon'ble Chief Minister,
Government of Gujarat

In absence of benchmarking criteria, aspiring candidates were applying for all kinds of advertisements issued by various agencies in the Government even when the job would have been of lesser challenge than the competence of the candidate. A large number of aspiring youth applying for every single vacancy creates tremendous pressure on the shared infrastructure, which is vital for conducting the recruitment process including the examination. This results in longer recruitment cycles, creating uncertainties for the candidates and making the entire recruitment process inefficient.

To ensure that resources are optimally utilized and the length of examination cycle is brought down, it becomes necessary to introduce a screening test, which is standardized as well as assesses all the candidates for the common skills and against the common syllabus. This approach will ensure that every candidate applies for positions which are suitable for his competence and his skills, thereby encouraging productivity of the pool of human resources.

Does PRET guarantee jobs?

No. PRET itself does not directly guarantee jobs, but requisite score secured in PRET makes the candidate eligible to apply/appear to recruitment exam/process undertaken by recruiting arms of the State such as GPSC, GSSSB, GPSSB and Departmental Recruitment Committees. Thereafter, the candidate has to apply/appear to a specific recruitment process and succeed in relevant exam/s and interview/ personality test if any, to secure the job in GoG/Public service.

How will PRET help me?

PRET conducts an aptitude test weekly. In addition to providing eligibility to apply/appear to Govt./Public sector recruitments, several companies may use the PRET score and profile as a hiring tool. Candidates with valid PRET can apply to as many companies from PRET portal once they have a valid test score. PRET score increases the hiring potential of the candidates.

When will I get a response after applying to posts?

When you apply to a post for a particular vacancy, your PRET and your online profile is made visible to the recruitment bodies. Thereafter the communication will be made through notifications for examination or interview as the case may be,on the PRET portal and/or SMS/emails, if you are meeting all essential qualifications and have paid requisite fees for that particular recruitment.

What is the cutoff percentage to get into recruitment examinations?

Different posts demand different benchmarks for short-listing candidates eligible to appear/apply to that specific recruitment exam/process. Different posts may have multiple cut-off criteria (such as educational background / academic performance etc.) in addition to PRET percentile. From your side you can make sure every detail in your profile is correct and the opening you have applied for suits your profile.

Your chances  may be good if you score  well in  PRET test –- and are ranked in top 10-12% of candidates.
